West Yellowstone

We made it to West Yellowstone. We stopped at Bear World. My camera ran out of batteries when it was time to take pictures of the bears. We stopped at the Teton Dam site. I was amazed, the earthen dam became saturated and when the dam burst it took both sides of the dam out and left the middle standing. After we got to West Yellowstone we took a side trip to Earthquake Lake. In 1959 a huge earthquake hit this area. The side of the mountain slid across the valley and created an earthen dam that backed up the river and creating a lake. I wonder if they worry about it becoming saturated like the Teton Dam did?

Tomorrow we are going to church and then to a museum.
