Conference Story

Don't forget to send me one of your favorite Conference stories.  Or publish it on your blog.

I was thinking about the talk by Joseph B Wirthlin entitled "Come What May and Love It."  When things were tough for him as a youth his mother gave him the counsel, "Joseph, come what may and love it."  Elder Wirthlin said that over the years he has learned some valuable lessons that have helped him through times of testing and trial.

1. Learn to Laugh
When we feel like groaning we should learn to laugh instead.  Laughing will get us through some hard times.

 2. Seek for the Eternal
When times are hard and we are wondering "Why me?"  We need to remember that everyone has hard times at one time or another in their lives.  That is when we need to look to the scriptures to see how others handled their problems.  “And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.' D&C 121:7-8

3. The Principle of Compensation
"The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude."

4. Trust the Father & the Son
" 'God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.'   The Lord Jesus Christ is our partner, helper, and advocate. He wants us to be happy. He wants us to be successful. If we do our part, He will step in."
