We got back to the airport in Dallas at 6:00AM. We checked in our bags and got our tickets. The only seats that were together were the ones by the exit. We said that would be fine. The lady at the counter said, "Well, you have to be strong enough to open the exit door if there is a problem." Now, do we really look that old and weak that we could not open that door? How many times do you have to open those doors anyway?
They started boarding us a little before time to go. We headed down the causeway and were stopped and told a computer had failed and we needed to wait to board the plane until a new computer could be brought to replace the failed one. (Hum, maybe we had better check the instructions on how to open the emergency exit.) No one wanted to go back to the waiting area so several people just sat down in the causeway.
When we finally got on our way. The plane made it to Lawton in one piece. Thank goodness.
After the demonstration we were able to take David with us and do whatever we wanted. We went to several museums. One was Old Fort Sill. The buildings are made of beautiful rock. This is the chapel with stained glass windows. It was great.
We also went to the Army field Artillery museum. The museum shows the history of artillery since the civil war. Oh the most interesting displays was a cannon designed to be shot from the back of a mule. Now who in his right mind really thought that was a good idea? Did they really think the mule would stand for that? Apparently the mule only gave them one chance to discover the error in their plans.
Oh, we went to an Apache cemetery to see where Geronimo was buried. Several of his family members are buried by him.
We had an enjoyable day. Last of all don't you think that David looks great?
