Tender Mercy 4

So many good things have happened today.  But as I walked in the door after Pack Meeting and a Relief Society meeting on the same night, I saw my Nativity Sets that the Grandkids had helped me put out on Friday.  The grandkids were so excited to get to help put the Nativities out.  I have two that are very kid friendly and I let the youngest kids arrange them.  And re-arrange them.  And arrange them again.  It was fun to watch.

 Nick was such a good help.  I had said that it looked like some of my Nativities were missing.  When we got to the 3rd tote I knew some were missing and Nick was even able to tell me that one of the missing ones was his favorite from Alaska.  So I told him we needed to go out to the pod and look for another tote.  He whipped out his flashlight and was ready to go.  We found the tote and he found Alaska.  I told him he could arrange the Nativity.

Now back to the tender mercies.  It was a tender mercy to have my Grandkids help put up my Nativities.  It was another tender mercy to walk through the door tonight, see my nativities, and feel the calming effect they had on me.  I love to set and think about our Saviors love for us.  His willingness to come to Earth in such humble circumstances. One of my favorite Christmas songs is Away in a Manger.

Away in a Manger

1. Away in a manger, no crib for his bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head;
The stars in the heavens looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

2. The cattle are lowing, the poor baby wakes;
But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.
I love thee, Lord Jesus; look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.

3. Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven, to live with thee there.

* Asleep, asleep, asleep, the Savior in a stall!
[2nd part] Asleep, asleep,
Asleep, asleep, asleep, the Lord of all.
[2nd part] asleep, asleep, asleep, the Lord, the Lord of all.
Words: attr. to Martin Luther, 1483–1546
